Kindle Fire: A good way to get lightweight, mobile checkbox functionality for Evernote?

I’ve been using Evernote a lot more since I discovered a good way to use the checkboxes along with the tagging to make it a very efficient part of my daily workflow.

However, one issue I haven’t been able to overcome yet is that the iOS devices I have such as the iPad and the iPhone will show the check box when you are in view mode but they don’t support it in their editor. When you go to edit a note there’s no way to insert a new checkbox, you can only remove them from the note or choose to append new content that doesn’t include any checkboxes. From their August 2011 release:

What about checkboxes?

This feature isn’t perfect yet, but we’re working on it. For now, to create checkboxes you must use the desktop version. As always, you can check off boxes in iOS.

This is unfortunately preventing Evernote from becoming a fully integrated part of my workflow. A good part of my day is spent walking around the office checking up on things, dropping by people’s desks, and attending various meetings. For me to be truly mobile in this scenario without having to carry a laptop around with me, I need the ability to create new notes that include checkboxes so that I can properly capture the different to do items and tasks that I need to complete.

The new Amazon Kindle Fire tablet may be the cost-effective answer to this. At $199, it runs a version of the Android operating system and thus should run the version of Evernote that does support adding checkboxes in edit mode.

I think I’m going to go ahead and pre-order one from Amazon with the hope that when it arrives it will be the solution I’m looking for, however a friend says I should really take a close look at the HTC Flyer
.

Any thoughts othe best Wifi Android tablet? The HTC Flyer would add the ability to run Google Voice…
